This photograph was taken in the arena of the Brisbane Exhibition Grounds in 1929 and depicts Australian born international speedway championship rider Harold Frank Milton Arthur (1908-1972). Arthur is seen here with his Harley Davidson Peashooter motor cycle and wearing a leather riding suit. Arthur was regarded as one of the three best riders in Australia during the late 1920s and had a successful career racing in both Australia and England.

This photograph depicts the William Jolly Bridge under construction between 1928 and 1931. The bridge's arched steel spans are being lifted into place. Located on Grey Street, the bridge was the first major work commissioned by the new Brisbane council, formed when Greater Brisbane was established in 1925. It was named after the first mayor of the new council, William Alfred Jolly, and is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register.
