History and use
This toy cooking set includes a frying pan and a saucepan with lid. Made in the 1950s, they are aluminium with red rubber handles and closely resemble the real kitchen items on which they are based. The items would probably have been sold as part of a larger set including baking trays and utensils. This kitchen set communicates the pastimes of Queensland children in this era, when a model kitchen would largely have been viewed as a toy for girls.
