It is a commemorative birth certificate available from Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. It features a Queensland State of Origin design and motifs. As it is a sample it is larger than actual size. The object tells a Queenslander story. The State of Origin series is so entrenched in Queensland culture that the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages recognised this enormous popular support and introduced a birth certificate to allow fans to incorporate this event into their family life.

The State of Origin series attracts an enormous amount of support and attention from Queenslanders far and wide and is an iconic rugby league event. It is an important part of Queensland's annual sporting calendar.

The object is significant because of its association with the 2014 State of Origin series, which contained a significant milestone, the 100th game of the series. A competition was held by the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to design a Queensland Maroons commemorative birth certificate during the 2014 State of Origin series. Over 10,000 votes were received for the winning entry and the traditional chevron design proved to be the crowd favourite. This object represents how much the State of Origin series has become an integral part of the Queenlsand culture and how many fans wish to showcase their allegience to the Queensland Maroons in all aspects of their life.
