History and use
The model is a Deutsche Bundesbahn Class 43 2-10-0 steam locomotive. The 43 class were converted to be oil-fired locomotives from exisiting 44 class engines. Deutsche Bundesbahn converted 32 of these engines in the late 1950s.

The 44 Class locomotives were built between 1926 and 1954 with nearly 2000 engines manufactured by numerous firms for the Deutsche Reichsbahn. After the war, along with being divided between East and West Germany, 44 Class steam locomotives were sent to Poland, Czechoslovakia, Austria, the Soviet Union and France.

This particular model, 44 480, features the livery of the Deutsche Bundesbahn which was created in West Germany after the Second World War replacing the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

Bockholt produced this model in 1980 in both Deutsche Bundesbahn and SNCF liveries.

This model is a modified 44 Class Bockholt engine which captures the period in history after the Deutsche Bundesbahn reconfigured their 44 class locomotives into the 43 class during the 1950s.

The T-House model rail collection is a collection of national and international significance due to the size, quality and scope of the collection.

The collection, assembled over 30 years from the 1970s to the 1990s, holds 10 000+ models of locomotives, carriages and wagons. The collection is in excellent – often mint – condition. The models were collected by Mr Marsden Williams, who was born, raised and spent his life in the Wollongong area. Mr Williams was a business man who was renowned for philanthropy, he was an intensely private man, who nevertheless was well connected across the Australian business world. His 40 year fascination for model railways reflected his own interest in precision engineering, and his financial success allowed him to pursue his interest to a remarkable extent.
