History and use
The model is a Deutsche Bundesbahn 01 Class 4-6-2 Pacific steam locomotive . The 01 class were built between 1926 and 1938 for the Deutsche Reichsbahn. This particular model is number 001 173-4, a modified version of the 01 Class that were rebuilt in the 1950s featuring Witte type (smaller) smoke deflectors.

His 40 year fascination for model railways reflected his own interest in precision engineering, and his financial success allowed him to pursue his interest to a remarkable extent.
