History and use
This photograph was owned by Charles Joseph Pound (b.1866 – d.1946), one of Australia’s earliest scientists to investigate veterinary and medical diseases in Queensland during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The photo represents an aspect of Pound’s life that is currently not well documented - his personal life. It is one of many photographs in the collection relating to C.J. Pound and his family.

Some of C.J. Pound's family photographs held in the collection were taken by well-known early Queensland photographers such as Sidney Riley Studios, Poul Poulsen and Crown and Mathewson & Co. Other Pound family photos were likely taken by C.J. Pound who regarded himself as an amateur photographer.
