History and use
This plaque was unveiled in 1994 to mark the commencement of redevelopment work at Redbank Railway Workshops as part of a modernisation project which required building new facilities.

The opening of Redbank Railway Workshops in 1958 saw a reduction in the importance of the original Ipswich Railway Workshops. After its opening, Rebank became the principal railway workshops in Queensland.

QR National took over control of the Redbank Railway Workshops when Queensland Rail was split in 2010.
