Description
Street lamp. Handmade of galvanised steel sheeting with soldered joins by plumber Dick Holm of Lowood. Although made in the middle of the 20th Century it is of a style used in the 19th Century.

History and use
Richard ( Dick) Holm had a Lowood plumbing business from the 1930s. Sheet metal manufacturing and soldering were part of the plumbing trade in the era of corregated steel water tanks and roofs 1850s - 1950s). Dick Holm also made jugs, lamps, tubs, window awnings, roof finials, roof vents etc of sheet metal, both as part of his business and as a hobby.
This handmade lamp is of a style used for street lighting in the nineteenth and early 20th centuries.
