History and use
This bright yellow, embellished woman’s coat featuring oversized beads, sequins and cotton tape was designed by iconic Australian fashion designers Easton Pearson (EP) in 2015-2016.

The EP label was established in Brisbane, Queensland in 1989, by duo fashion design team, Lydia Pearson and Pamela Easton. Lydia Pearson, originally from North Queensland, was an arts graduate who taught herself pattern making and had just begun to experiment with her own fashion range. Pamela Easton, originally from Toowoomba, worked as a fashion buyer in Brisbane. Pamela briefly moved to Melbourne to work for Sportsgirl Australia and David Lawrence and came back to Brisbane with a desire to create a small fashion business. After meeting in Brisbane and realising their shared interests, the former friends, Lydia and Pamela collaborated and created the EP brand and began their joint venture in designing and selling women’s clothing that was influenced by their shared love of vintage fashion, European and non-European textiles, old movies, history, theatre, art and literature.

The EP label became one of the longest running and most successful boutique fashion brands in Australia. In 1997, EP caught the attention of the European market at a fashion show at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week which resulted in their collections being distributed internationally. Their first international show was in Paris the following year. Easton Pearson distributed to over 100 retail stores around the world. Their head office and flagship store was based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. The label had two other Australian based stores in Sydney and Melbourne. In April 2016, Easton Pearson announced the closure of their label along with the special release of a final and limited edition collection to their flagship store in Brisbane. The coat was purchased from EP’s Brisbane store before the label’s closure.
