History and use
A gold rail pass issued by Queensland Railways to His Honour Judge B W Ambrose of the Supreme Court of Queensland 1985 - 2003.

Gold Passes were issued by Queensland Railways to parliamentarians, members of the judiciary and other selected VIPs granting free rail travel whenever travel by rail was required. These medallion style gold passes were issued up until about 1990 when a change was made to a gold coloured "credit card" style plastic card.

The Honourable Brian Ambrose QC was born in 1935. He attended high school at Marist Brothers College, Ashgrove and as awarded a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Queensland in 1958. He practiced at the bar for 22 years and then was appointed a judge of the District Court of Queensland in Townsville 1981. In 1985 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland in Brisbane where he served for 18 years. He retired in 2003 and in December 2015 he pass away.
