A gold rail pass issued by Queensland Railways to the Honourable Justice John Byrne of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

Gold Passes were issued by Queensland Railways to parliamentarians, members of the judiciary and other selected VIPs granting free rail travel whenever travel by rail was required. These medallion style gold passes were issued up until about 1990 when a change was made to a gold coloured "credit card" style plastic card.

The Honourable Justice John Harris Byrne AO RFD was born in 1948. He went to High School at Brisbane Boys' College and then gained a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland. He was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court in 1989 and become the Senior Judge Administrator in 2007.
