History and use
A gold rail pass issued by Queensland Railways to the Honourable Mr Justice A G Demack of the Supreme Court of Queensland 1978 - 2000.

Gold Passes were issued by Queensland Railways to parliamentarians, members of the judiciary and other selected VIPs granting free rail travel whenever travel by rail was required. These medallion style gold passes were issued up until about 1990 when a change was made to a gold coloured "credit card" style plastic card.

The Honourable Alan George Demack was born at Caboolture in 1934. He attended Caboolture State School and then later Brisbane Boys College. After school he studied at the University of Queensland and was awarded a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1957. He then practiced law for 14 years before being appointed as a Judge to the District Court in 1972.

In 1976 he resigned from the District Court in order to join the Family Court as a Senior Judge. He was appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1978 and served as the Central Judge in Rockhampton. After retiring from the Supreme Court in 2000, he has served as the Integrity Commissioner and was made chairperson for the Queensland Redistribution Commission. In 2000 in he was appointed as an Officer to the Order of Australia.
