History and use
A gold rail pass issued by Queensland Railways to His Honour Judge W A Howell of the District Court of Queensland 1984 - 2009.

Gold Passes were issued by Queensland Railways to parliamentarians, members of the judiciary and other selected VIPs granting free rail travel whenever travel by rail was required. These medallion style gold passes were issued up until about 1990 when a change was made to a gold coloured "credit card" style plastic card.

His Honour Warren Howell was born in 1939. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts/Laws from the University of Queensland and later achieved a Masters of Laws from the University of London. Howell practiced law in Queensland, Papua New Guinea, New South Wales and was an acting Magistrate in Hong Kong for a short period during the early 1970s. He was appointed a Judge to the District Court in 1984. He retired in 2009.
