History and use
A gold rail pass issued by Queensland Railways to His Honour Judge F McGuire of the District Court of Queensland 1975 - 1989.

Gold Passes were issued by Queensland Railways to parliamentarians, members of the judiciary and other selected VIPs granting free rail travel whenever travel by rail was required. These medallion style gold passes were issued up until about 1990 when a change was made to a gold coloured "credit card" style plastic card.

His Honour Fredrick McGuire was born in Mount Morgan. He went to high school in Rockhampton and in 1952 was awarded a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Queensland. He returned to Rockhampton in 1953 and practiced at the bar for 22 years.

In 1975 he was appointed a judge to the District Court. Later he was made the first President of the Childrens Court. He retired in 1999 and died in 2000.
