Cigarette card. The card has a picture of a red coach on one side and text on the reverse. ('Cobb & Co. 32 Passenger Concord Coach (Heavy'))The card was one of a series of 50 on coaching issued by tobacco company WD & HO Wills of Bristol England for its New Zealand subsiduary. This series of cards all dealt with coaches and coaching history including the operations of Cobb & Co. Cigarette cards were intended to be collected, thereby promoting the consumption of the producer's brand of cigarettes.

Reverse side text. <COACHES AND COACHING DAYS/ A SERIES OF 50/ 2/ Cobb & Co. 32-Passenger Concord Coach Heavy/ The coach takes its name from the town where it was made, in Concord, New Hampshire, USA. Mssrs. Abbot & Downing made the first of these vehicles in 1827, and the type remained fixed. These coaches were introduced into New Zealand in the '60s and were called 'jack' coaches from the iron 'jacks' supporting the leather braces on which the body rests. The height of the roof was 8 feet 6 inches. The last one disappeared in 1915 in Hokitika./ W.D. & H.O. WILLS/ Bristol & London>
