Description
This is a 1929 Caterpillar crawler tractor model fifteen with a four cylinder petrol engine. It is painted grey with red logo and black lever handles. It has a black seat and a crank handle attached to the front of the engine held in place with a brown leather strap. "FIFTEEN" is cast and painted red vertically on both sides of the engine at the front of the crawler tractor.

History and use
This model Fifteen crawler tractor was manufactured in It was purchased by Bert Thiess for his collection. It is believed to have come from the USA. it has been restored and painted in orginal colours, grey with red trim. It features a 'wavy' Caterpillar logo, the original logo used by teh Caterpillar Tractor Company. Thiess Bros used model Fifteen tractors in their business in the 1930s. There are two other examples of model Fifteen tractors in this collection. All were manufactured in 1929.

In the Caterpillar product line in the late 1920s and early 1930s there were three separate models, which were referred to as model Fifteen tractors. The Fifteen (PV) was the first and was introduced in 1929. It was mechanically identical to the earlier Ten model but larger. High clearance adaptor kits were available for this model, for use in orchards. It had a four cylinder Cat 3 3/4 x 5 inch bore and stroke, gas engine. 7559 tractors were produced from 1929 to 1932. The original price was US$1500 but dropped to US$1,100 by 1932.
