Description
This is a 1925 Holt 2 Ton (T35) crawler tractor with a four cylinder petrol engine. It is painted grey with black logo, black lever handles and a brown seat with grey metal frame. The tread is unpainted. There is a crank handle attached to the front of the engine held in place with a brown leather strap. "CATERPILLAR" is cast into the front of the engine. "HOLT" is cast vertically on both sides of the engine at the front of the crawler tractor.

History and use
This HOLT model 2-Ton crawller tractor was manufactured in 1925. It iis probably one the last HOLT 2-Ton tractors produced, as the HOLT Manufacturing company and the C.L. BEST Gas Traction company merged to become the Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1925. The crawler is painted grey with black trim and has a 'wavy' Caterpillar logo. Originally HOLT tractors were painted a light olive green. They switched to grey with red trim mid 1923. It is not known why the trim is painted black on this tractor but there is evidence that black trim could be a valid production colour.
The 1925 2 Ton HOLT tractor model was an upgrade to the 2-Ton T35, produced from 1921 to 1924. This model would be rebadged during 1925 to become part of the newly formed Caterpillar Tractor company's first product line.
