History and use
This tractor is a model Ten PT series manufactured in 1929. It is painted yellow with black trim. As it was manufactured in 1929, it would have originally been painted grey with red trim. Caterpillar did not change over to Hi-Way yellow until December 1931.

The model Ten crawler tractor was the second tractor designed by the newly formed Caterpillar Tractor company. The Ten was a replacement for the HOLT designed 2-Ton and started production in December 1928. The model Ten was the smallest gasoline crawler tractor amde by Caterpillar. It was powered by a four cylinder , 3 3/8 x 4 inch bore and stroke, gasoline engine. It weighed slightly less than the 2-Ton at 4,420 pounds. Around 4,929 model Ten's were manufactured from 1928 to 1932.
