Description
This is a 1950 Caterpillar D2 crawler tractor with a four cylinder diesel engine. It is painted yellow with black trim, black logo and black lever handles. The track is unpainted. It has a black seat, an overhead valve and a mounted cylinder on the left hand side of the driver's seat. "CATERPILLAR" is cast horizontally across the front of the engine. "CATERPILLAR D2" is cast vertically on both sides of the engine at the front of the crawler tractor. It has an hydraulic blade attached to the front of the crawler tractor that is painted yellow.

History and use
This model D2 is a 5U series manufactured in 1950. It has a non branded hydraulic bulldozer blade attached. The D2 model was a diesel crawler tractor first manufactured in 1938. It was Caterpillar’s smallest diesel tractor. It was designed as a small economical tractor intended for farm work, and could pull 3 to 4 ploughs. It used a completely new engine and transmission. It was a reliable, low cost machine to operate and was versatile with applications ranging from farming, small landscaping contracts to surface coal mining. It had a Cat D3400, four cylinder, 3 3/4 x 5 inch bore and stroke diesel engine. The original price was US$1,400. The total number of D2s produced was 26,454
