History and use
This model canoe replicates a full scale outrigger canoe. Outrigger canoes were often carved and decorated with feathers, flowers, streamers and cowrie shells.
This model also has cowrie shells attached, and red, white and black painted decorations adorning the body of the canoe.

This object was collected by donor Peter Watt in 1990 and donated to the Museum of Tropical Queensland in 2012.
