History and use
On the handle of this ladle are human figures, with long hooked noses and tiered headdresses characteristic of the Sepik carving style. Human figures in Sepik carving were thought to represent ancestor figures.

This object was collected by donor Peter Watt in 1990 and donated to the Museum of Tropical Queensland in 2012.
