History and use
Raymond Robert Argus became a Coach Builder at the Ipswich Railway Workshops in 1938 and was selected in the Ipswich Railway Cricket Club in the same year. Argus was a very successful fast bowler and lower order batsman.

He played for the club from 1938 - 1942. Once A grade cricket resumed in Ipswich after the Second World War, Argus stopped playing for the team but remained a committee member and supporter of the club. He was honoured in 1954 as a life member after 17 years of service. He was presented with this badge in 1955.

The Ipswich Railway Cricket Club was established in 1922.
