History and use
Laura Ashley’s Victorian-inspired flowing dresses had mass appeal, defining the zeitgeist and capturing the bohemian and hippie spirit of the 1970s.

Australia's first appointed marriage celebrant, Lois D'Arcy wore this romantic, mauve, floral Laura Ashley maxi dress to perform her first marriage ceremony at the Gold Coast on 9 September 1973.

Lois chose her dress for its feminine, understated and modest style and colour which she felt would complement but not draw attention away from the bride.
