History and use
Comeng (Commonwealth Engineering) built 76 3100/3200 class electric locomotives for Queensland Railways between 1986 and 1989. Japanese company, Hitachi, supplied the electrical components for the locomotives. They were built at Comeng's Queensland facility in Rocklea, Brisbane.
