History and use
The Toowoomba Foundry and Railway Rollingstock Manufacturing Company were a major supplier to Queensland Railways during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The firm first supplied rolling stock in 1885, building 30 four wheel ballast wagons and 40 covered goods wagons.
In 1887 the company fabricated and erected iron footbridges for the railways and in 1888, Toowoomba Foundry made 100 000 steel sleepers for the Normanton Railway. In the early 1900s, they made composite lavatory guards vans, 1st and 2nd class lavatory passenger cars and F Class wagons.
The company also produced 20 PB15 Class and 15 C16 Class locomotives during the 1910s for Queensland Railways.
