History and use
This builder's plate is from a Gemco built MMM Class spike springer purchased by Queensland Railways in 1982. It was modified and reclassified as an MMU Class spike springer in 1997.

Gemco supplied Queensland Railways with a number of track maintenance vehicles between the 1960s and 1990s including an MMB Class reciprocating scarifier, MMD Class track jack and rail threader models, an MMJ Class junior sleeper borer, MML Class sleeper renewers, MMM Class spike pullers, MMP Class speedswing crane models, MMZ Class joint lifters and MMK Class sleeper cranes.
