History and use
Comeng purchased South Australian track maintenance vehicle company, Aresco Trak-Chief in 1968, with the company taking over full operations of Aresco in 1972. The South Australian arm of Comeng became known as Comeng Aresco in 1973.

Comeng Aresco continued to produce track maintenace vehicles as well road-rail buses and tractors, compressor cars, sleeper cranes and boring machines. By the end of the 1970s, Comeng Aresco produced over 30 different railway maintenace vehicles.
