History and use
EDI Bombardier are a joint venture between Downer EDI (Evan Deakin Industries which was purchased by the Downer Group in 2001) and Bombardier Transportation. The consortium began constructing Western Australia's B-Series EMUs at Downer's facility in Maryborough Queensland, the former Walkers Limited site, in 2004.

In 2002 EDI Bombardier were awarded contracts by the Queensland Government to upgrade bogie sets to the 3900 Class electric locomotive fleet with the work undertaken in Maryborough.
