History and use
The SARS-Cov2 pandemic which swept the world in 2020 resulted in unprecedented national and state-wide lockdowns to reduce the spread of the virus.
During the first wave of the pandemic, Australia entered a general nationwide lockdown on 23 March 2020. By April 2020, about half of the world's population was under some form of lockdown, with almost four billion people in more than ninety countries or territories having been asked or ordered to stay at home by their governments.
This artwork is part of a collection produced by local Brisbane artist, Jenny Lishman - one for each day of lockdown. The artworks are a record of Jenny’s day to day thoughts, experiences and feelings, her connections with friends, family, and neighbours. Many are scenes from her studio overlooking Lanham Park and Kedron Brook bikeway.
