History and use
Responding personally to the imposed isolation and enforced leisure time precipitated by the lockdown, Jenny Lishman produced an artwork for each day of lockdown. A Brisbane artist and former art teacher, Jenny's life 'changed in all kinds of ways and this project gave structure to my days. There was a growing joy in dreaming up the theme for the following day, so much so that I would start it the evening before and complete it in the morning'.

At once, deeply personal, but each also a social document, the artworks record Jenny's day to day thoughts, experiences and feelings, connections with friends, family, and neighbours, the introduction of mask-wearing and State border restrictions. Many are scenes from her Grange home where she has a studio overlooking Lanham Park and Kedron Brook bikeway.

In late 2020, Jenny produced a book and a number of sets of high-quality printed copies of her artworks which were exhibited and sold at an exhibition held in Albion, Brisbane. A percentage of the sales from the prints and book were donated to 'Days for Girls', a grassroots, not-for-profit organisation which distributes menstrual kits to women in impoverished communities in Africa, Papua New Guinea and other areas.

As part of a network of volunteer seamstresses, Jenny and a friend make shields and liners for the kits, which are then forwarded to 'Days for Girls', who collect, collate and distribute them through an extensive system of organizations who deliver the kits as well as health and safety education.
