History and use
139 decorative beads were recovered during the Tower Mill archaeological excavations. These tiny glass beads were used to decorate clothing and accessories such as bags, purses and jewellery. White, clear and black beads were the most common colour, comprising over 80% of the total beads recovered. Conversely only three pink beads were found, suggesting they may have been more rare to wear or produce.
