History and use
This goblet is the only tangible object at the Workshops Rail Museum that has direct links with the opening of the first public railway in Queensland between Ipswich and Bigge's Camp. This goblet is highly significant and is a major addition to the State Collection and the Workshops Rail Museum.

The goblet was used by Lady Bowen, wife of the State Governor Sir George Bowen, at the opening of the first public railway in Queensland - the first section of the Southern & Western Railway between Ipswich and Bigges Camp (Grandchester) - on the 31 July 1865.
