History and use
Seafaring is a way of life in the Pacific, which is reflected in the sophisticated and diverse techniques of boat building found throughout the region. Early European visitors marvelled at the skill of Pacific canoe builders and many collected model boats to take home as examples. This model outrigger from Vanuatu was acquired by Queensland Museum in 1913.
