History and use
Among the many devices and emblems worn to show their grief or respect for their deceased husbands, the women of Collingwood Bay wear the close-fitting widow’s caps woven with coix-shells, commonly known as “Job’s tears”. They also don the coix-shell net work bodice or skirt as signs of mourning.
