History and use
This hafted stone axe was made in 1993 by Russell Butler, an Elder of the Bandjin and Warrgamay people of the Hinchinbrook Island region.

Russell donated this item, along with a collection of other items, to the Queensland Museum Network in 1998, for the inaugural Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander exhibition held at the Museum of Tropical Queensland (2000-2005).
