Description
Alabaster, Egyptian, funerary vase, with no lid. Small round base rises gently to a slightly curved upper body, which is met with a larger rim, larger than both the body and base. Chip removed from the base. Internal cylindrical void of the vessel has marked circular grooves inside the vessel, which suggests metal circular drill like object was used to make the void.

History and use
Alabaster vessels were common for cosmetics and funerary equipment in all time periods in Ancient Egypt. This flat based vessel may be a modern representation of an ancient form. In Ancient Egypt, alabaster vessels were used to hold cosmetics, such as kohl or ointments, which wereused by all in daily life.
