Object detail

Description
Fragment of pottery, possibly the wheel-turned bases of vases or bowls. Base fragment from a small vase or bottle. The paste is pinkish-brown, the surface sandy-yellow. The texture is fine, with a scattering of inclusions. A sandy encrustation covers the interior base and part of the side. The base is a foot-ring, slightly indented, with prominent wheel-markings. The sides angle sharply upwards, suggesting a bulbous vessel. Possibly Roman.
