History and use
Wrapping mummies was a very important part of the mummification process, assisting to hold the mummified body together. Wrapping could use as much as 350 meters of cloth. Magical amulets were often placed between layers to provide protection and assistance in the afterlife. Some linens had protective spells written on them.
