History and use
This is a small glass beaker in transparent glass. Glassworkers made vessels by mixing silica (sand made of quartz) and soda, which made the silica melt at a lower temperature. Lime was also sometimes used as a stabiliser. Colourants could be added to vary the colour of vessels.
