History and use
Unfortunately, warfare was common in the ancient world, as it is today. Many written records recount the great battles and grand narratives of heroic victory. Written records rarely discuss the personal lives and experiences of those who did the fighting, or the lives of their families at home, both of whom carried the real burdens and dangers of war. This spearhead has a relatively short blade, and a central tang and long socket for fitting to a shaft. When fixed to a wooden shaft, the spear weighed 1.5 – 2 kg.
