History and use
As evidence for the appreciation of these fine wares in the Ancient world this piece was exported to (and excavated) Tuscany, south of Rome. When the piece is viewed, it is easy to understand why Athenian painted wares were highly regarded in the ancient world. There is an unmistakable sense of balance and form exhibited. No photo or sketch can reflect the beauty achieved merely in the shape of their vessels.
