Egyptian faience is a ceramic material with a siliceous body and brightly coloured glaze.

Glaze (formed by alkali and lime reacting with silica to form the glaze)
History and use
According to different belief systems, some jewellery provided the wearer protection – the Uraeus (snake) provided power, the eye of Horus assisted healing. These rings were produced in large quantities, and were given out as gifts by the King.
