History and use
This flannel blanket was bought from Mellick's drapery in Innisfail, Queensland, a popular local drapery that supplied cane cutters with flannel for shirts, blankets, bed linen and other necessities. Built by Thelma Mellick and her mother, Leinda, the shop was named in memory of her father, Abraham Selim Mellick, the founder of a successful earlier drapery store, who died in 1982.
