History and use
This cloth is one of the souvenirs collected by John Henry Lowe during his First World War service with the 5th Light Horse. Like so many other service personnel, Lowe sent letters and trinkets home to his family. While many such souvenirs were commercially produced, Lowe’s items are more unusual and personal.
