History and use
This builder's plate was attached to Queensland Railways C17 Class locomotive number No.709 which entered service in October 1922.

Built by Walkers of Maryborough and given the works number 337, the locomotive was one of 30 C17s built by Walkers in 1922-23.

No.709 was based at Hughenden and Townsville in the Northerrn Division between 1949 and 1958 before being sent to Toowoomba in the South-Western Division in January 1958. The locomotive was written off in August 1967.

The plate does not incorporate 'Maryborough' in the lettering and the overall size is smaller than other Walkers plates.
