Round brass plate with Australian Coat of Arms at top, detailed scroll work on two sides and bottom. A Phoenix rising is located in the centre with all text and inscriptions in polished relief brass and has a red painted recessed background.

History and use
This builder's plate is from C17 Class No.938 which entered service in November 1949. It spent its whole life in the Central Division working out of depots at Alpha, Rockhampton, Mount Morgan and Mackay. No.938 was written off 15 May 1968.
