Description
Cast glass linear-cut bowl. Fairly thick translucent amber-coloured glass. Hemispherical with near vertical sides, flat base and slightly outsplayed rim with rounded edge. On interior a single shallow horizotal wheel-cut groove below rim, another two in a band at mid body. Rotary-polished on interior, top and outside of rim. Some encrustation and many cracks (annealling flaws) (Webb, Jennifer M., 1997 "Corpus of Cypriote Antiquities", Studies in Mediterranean Archaeology, Vol. XX: p 6)

History and use
This unassuming bowl was possibly Italian or Syro-Palestinian manufacture. These bowls are relatively common archaeologically and found throughout Italy, southern France, Spain, North Africa the Agean and the Levant. This bowl is reported to have been acquired by Pitt-Rivers.
