History and use
A billy is a pot used to cook over a campfire, most often associated with the brewing of bush tea. Although similar objects exist in other cultures, Australians have embraced the billy as a symbol of the spirit of outback exploration. It is associated with the freedom of travelling light, self-reliance and connection to the land. This is an early twentieth century tin billy with measurements up to 1 pint marked on the inside.
