Black resin replica of a pharonic bust of Ptolemy 1. Bust includes head, neck and upper torso. Ptolemy 1 wears a headdress with protective serpent but is otherwise plain and devoid of decorative elements. Sculptures trial piece with grid on back. Embossed "B.M. Replica" R67. History and use
This is a replica of an ancient Egyptian basalt bust of Ptolemy 1. The original bust was said to have been excavated from the lining of a well in the Nile Delta. Ptolemy 1 ruled between 305 and 283 BC and was a general under Alexander the Great, who founded the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt. He wears a royal headdress with a protective serpent.
