Description
Black on Red II Ware Jug. Spherical body with low-ring base. Narrow slightly concave neck with trefoil mouth. Double angular vertical handle from rim to shoulder. Hard buff brown clay with thick semi-lustrous red slip, decorated in semi lustrous black paint. On the shoulder, group of ten thin horizontal bands, intersected by group of 10 thin vertical bands on each side of body. At centre of each side two concentric compass drawn circles, surrounded by five small groups of three concentric circles. Tall diagonal cross with central vertical line, intersected by two short horizontal bars and surrounded by four groups of three small concentric circles on front of the body. On rear, below handle, ten groups of three small concentric circles arranged in three vertical rows Candlestick unguentarium. Pale green blown glass. Very low almost flat disc-shaped body with convex shoulder and concave base with pontil mark. Slight constriction at neck base. Tall cylindrical neck narrowing to wide uneven shaped funnel mouth with small irregular bevelled fold (upward, outward and inward) on top. Body damaged. Much iridescence. Burnished red spherical jug with flat base medium neck, shaped pouring lip. Handle of two joined strips. Decoration of black concentric circle patterns, 3 intersecting lines on front of shoulder, interrupted ladder pattern on handle.
